What do you guys think about the Chipmunks triplet birthorder being changed back and forth from between who's older. They keep switching between Alvin and Simon being older, now claiming in Alvinnn that Simon is oldest. What do you guys think about them changing so often?

The way I see it, this really causes confusion for everybody, not just the fans, but even casual lurks of the franchise as well.
Before I really got involved with the fandom several years ago, I remember just assuming Simon and Jeanette were the oldest of their siblings, if only because they're not only taller, but more mature than their siblings as well. Upon learning that Alvin and Brittany are the oldest, that was something I was easily convinced of: just based on the interaction between them, it kind of makes more sense: Alvin and Brittany are the ones who take charge of any given situation, and usually end up dragging their siblings along. Not to mention, just some of things that's been said over the years as well - Ross, Sr. was the one who said Alvin was the oldest despite being the smallest (at that time), and when Simon seemed to be lacking in fans compared to Alvin and Theodore, Janice even said she felt like he was a neglected middle child because of it.
I don't know just how faithful the new series is exactly to the franchise as a whole, but I don't believe I could go back to regarding Simon and Jeanette as the oldest.

Yeah I have always liked the idea of Alvin and Britt being older because they are such leaders. It's bothersome that they would change it even after all the CGI had followed the original age canon too.

As long as the new series sticks to the fact that Simon's older and doesn't later claim Alvin's the oldest, I don't think it really matters. I don't get how it could get confusing, it seems really easy to understand to me. Different universes have different birth orders, so what?
